IDL 6.4 seg-faults when drawing (Solaris-8) [message #57181]

Hey All,

I'm currently running IDL 6.4 on Solaris 8. I just installed the most
recent recommended patch cluster for Solaris 8 (to fix an unrelated
issue), and now when I run IDL, if I attemp any window drawing
operation, IDL dies with a segmentation fault.

I'm hesitant about upgrading to IDL 7.0 right now to see if this fixes
the problem. I'm even more hesitant about backing out the entire patch
cluster (which seems to have fixed the the other problem).

I have contacted both Sun and ITT, but in the meanwhile, if anyone has
observed any similar problems, or has any advice, I'm all ears.

I still have two other solaris-8 boxes that I have not yet patched, and
IDL still works fine on those - but the one I did patch is our real
work-horse machine.
