No problem - it gives us a chance to respond for general consumption and
"get the word out" about how things work. Just about any feedback is
good feedback. If things are confusing to people, we'll know if we need
to tweak it for the next release. The whole "path management" thing
definitely has the potential to confuse!

Cheers,
Doug

Hi Vince,

When the IDL Workbench starts up, it checks which projects are being
managed with respect to the path. For those that are, it adds them to
your path preference (and hence !path).

You can easily disable this by going to your project's properties and
turning off the "Update IDL path..." property. To do this, right-click
on a project in the "Project Explorer" view, choose "Properties", go to
"IDL Project Properties" and deselect "Update IDL path preference when
project is opened or closed". You may want to do this for all projects.

If this property is turned off for all projects, then the IDL Workbench
behaves exactly the same as the old IDE (with respect to paths ;-) ).
