I am searching for routines to read and write jpeg-files with pv_wave.
Any ideas?

Thanks,

I suspect this person is not a native English speaker, and is most probably
doing the best he can. I'm not sure which country is represented by internet
addresses ending in .za. (Zaire, maybe?) It would help, though, if more
information could be given as to what is being asked.

I think the question is how does one prepare an array to receive a JPEG image
read through the routine READ_JPEG. The answer is that you don't have to--the
READ_JPEG routine will take care of this for you. Just use something like

READ_JPEG, "myfile.jpg", MYIMAGE

and the array MYIMAGE will be created automatically for you, and will contain
the image.

A pentium computer with 128 megabytes of RAM sounds like a very good system to
me.
