You can certainly write programs in IDL 7.0 for use in ENVI batch
mode, but you'll still have to test the programs and run batch mode in
the version of IDL that shipped with your ENVI distribution (e.g., 6.4
for ENVI 4.4). The current 7.0 distribution has no idea that ENVI
even exists, so attempting to call ENVI procedures and functions will
result in lots and lots of "undefined procedure/function" errors. The
next release of ENVI *should* be linked to 7.0.
