I think there may be semantic or language issues with the OP's first sentence above. With
apologies to the OP if I'm wrong, but I assumed English is not his first language and
interpreted his use of the word "stable" accordingly; i.e. I took it to mean something
like: "the learning curve for the IDL Workbench is going to interrupt my usual work flow."[*]

But, the provisional misstatement should be corrected -- as you did (all guns blazing! For
this newsgroup at least :o) -- for the record. Any blame for the non-intuitivity (is that
a word?) of Eclipse shouldn't be laid at IDL's door.
