Hello world,

I'm looking for IDL routines which will do elliptical isophote
fitting - I am analyzing digital images of elliptical galaxies.
The idea is for a given elliptical galaxy, to extract (elliptical)
annuli and fit for the ellipticity, orientation, and/or centers as
a function of semi-major axis. An extra bonus feature would allow
for fitting of partial annuli (e.g. if the galaxy is truncated by
the edge of the image or if there is something, e.g. a bright star,
superimposed on the galaxy which you do not want to contaminate
your fit).

I'd greatly appreciate any help on this. As I don't read this
newsgroup regularly, please send me email (in addition to
posting here for the benefit of everyone who is a regular).

Thanks in advance,
