Hi Antar,

I would suggest beginning by having a scout down the list found at:
http://www.dfanning.com/documents/tips.html#MapProjections

There's a few clues on how to make map_proj_init behave properly here:
http://www.dfanning.com/map_tips/badmercator.html

although I don't know if sinusodial projection suffers from the same
problems Mercator seems to.
