Folks,
I spoke before of knowing my new gig as a background wilderness
ranger was On the Path. I knew initially because I was assigned
to the Coyote group for training. Today I took my son Jonathan
with me on my first patrol to the top of a mountain outside
Rocky Mountain National Park.
On the way out of town a healthy looking, but motley colored,
coyote crossed the road in front of the car. But the real
surprise was near the summit, when two of the largest coyotes
I have ever seen (I thought they were wolves at first, until
I came to my senses!) passed 30 yards in front of us along
the trail without seeing us.
I have a feeling I am really going to like this job! :-)
Cheers,
David
P.S. Couldn't get the camera out fast enough to catch
the coyotes, but I did come back with a picture of my
unbelievably macho hat. You can find it on my web page. :-)
