Folks,
Because I have been working with data that lends itself to
diverging color tables, and because I have been writing
my programs in the klugiest way possible, it occurred to
me I might learn something if I just sat down and had a
closer look at the problem. I've done so, then passed it
by Matt Savoie, who picked the whole thing apart and added
a few of his own flourishes.
What we've done *seems* simple (and, God knows, maybe it
is), but it wasn't exactly obvious to either one of us
in the heat of battle. Anyway, I've written it down so
I can find it again when I need it.

Cheers,
David
P.S. Writing the code for the article exposed another bug
in TVImage (yikes!). So that has been fixed, too.
