Java-IDL bridge questions [message #61002] Sun, 29 June 2008 18:44

I've just started using the IDL-Java bridge (Not the export bridge)
and had a few questions:

I've noticed that there doesn't seem to be support for calling methods
from template classes or interfaces. Can anyone confirm this is the
case?

The IDL-Java bridge can't be run under the VM. Is there any reason for
this? Why does the IDL-COM bridge not need a license, yet the IDL-Java
bridge requires one. Is ITTVIS re-licensing some existing code here?
Arranging to get licenses on an end-user workstation is very annoying
and makes other language combinations seem more practical.

Has anyone experimented with using the Java Native Interface (JNI) to
avoid copying large arrays between IDL and Java. I imagine that I
could use Shared Memory or C-Pointers to store such data in a mutually
accessible context.

Cheers,

Robbie
