hum... I guess it depends on the phase of the moon...
No, seriously, at times, having all the .bak, a few .sav, .doc etc is
more annoying than useful... but wasn't the workbench design to be more
user-friendly, allowing one to have the "development environment of your
dream"??? ;-)

Humm. I think the fact that you can see *all* the files
is the best thing about the Workbench. :-)

I'll say this. If you are looking for a consistent
(albeit occasionally maddening) interface for flopping
back and forth between UNIX and Windows machines, then
you could do worse than the IDL Workbench.
But, I'm looking forward to IDL 8.2, too. :-)
