Hello,

Is there a way -using IDL- to overlay a shaded surface on a map
projection. Something along the lines of :

..
map_set,/stereographic
map_continents
contour,pres,lat,lon,/over
..

but instead of plotting the contours, can I plot a 3d surface ?

Any information on the most efficient way of doing this would be greatly
appreciated.
