Hey all,

I've noticed that when I start up a new emacs IDLWAVE window (we still
use IDL 6.2, so I haven't gotten around to the new Workbench IDE) that
IDLWAVE kicks in an 'Expanding path...' phase that locks my emacs
window while it goes off and tries to search through my paths for
commands. As it turns out, this takes a while because I use the
SolarSoft Ware database of astronomy analysis tools. Because this is a
pretty large tree of subdirectories/packages/etc, this takes a while
for IDLWAVE to scan, and even when I try to do an 'autocomplete' it
tends to hang on this and then return an error (not important what
this is, since I generally don't use this feature of IDLWAVE).

Is there any way to turn off the 'Expanding path...' feature in the
IDLWAVE startup? I've just typed this email in the time it took to
run, which gives you an idea of how annoying this is when starting up
a new IDLWAVE session.

Cheers,

Brian
