Hi,
How can I convert a long array with only one element to type
scalar integer ?
I apologise if this is a FAQ.

IDL> i = lonarr(1)
IDL> help,i
I LONG = Array(1)
IDL> i = fix( i(0) )
IDL> help,i
I INT = 0
IDL>
