You can get it, "Real Soon Now" as David has mentioned or you can get it
now. There has been an idl shell for windows since the release of 7.0.
It is available via the code contrib site as "wincl_7.0.0.1.zip"

Without giving anything away, I'd say you could hopefully
start looking for a solution Real Soon Now.

Cheers,

David

OMG

On linux you can use the idl shell.

Thanks for pointing on this. If that can't be solved the workbench
blocks parallel useage of idlde. Which makes it quite useless for
developpers which uses the workbench to run their programs.

On windows their is no idl shell. How is it planned to fix this issue?

cheers

Well I'll be... I've been submitting feature requests for one of those
for a decade now. And now there's been one for 12 months and I didn't
know. I clearly need to stay in more.

By the way, David, can I expect to see IDL's netCDF library upgraded
to version 4 Real Soon Now?
