Hi,

I just wonder if theres a possibility to use a second idl-license
with(in) the Workbench.

At this time Im waiting for a IDL-program to finish. Meanwhile Id like
to do some plots from the data the program has already processed. On a
terminal I can fire-up a second IDL but since my plot-routines are in an
idl-workspace Id have to fumble around with the right paths. This would
likely take me longer then just to wait and write this post ;)

Starting a second idlde doesnt work because the workspace is locked.

Regards

Bernhard

Reimar, I have been studying German on my commute to Boulder
for the past 4-5 weeks. I'm really enjoying it, and your
recent frequent postings on this newsgroup is helping
immensely with the--to American ears--seemingly odd
German syntax. I'm smiling every time I read one of your
posts, and it is making my German better and better. Danke! :-)

No it's just that question.

I've done this since they have added the 3.0 version because that was to
restricted in the naming convention. unidata has fixed it very fast. I
often asked rsi to add a newer version to a future release. They
accepted the request at the time they have introduced 64bit which makes
it impossible to copy over an old 2.4 version for windows. On the
linux/aix systems I was able to create the dlm easily because friendly
rsi did gave me the necessary part of code.

But even when you realize how less work it is to exchange an "old" dlm
by a recent one you do feel like me now.

Gosh, and I thought I had passed over to the cynical side.
This economic crisis must be stirring things up in Germany,
too. ;-)

Cheers,

David

Why do you think David knows that. The last update to the current has
taken several years and it was all the time only a five minute job to
get a recent netCDF dlm lib for linux/unix by make_dll.

If you don't do this yourself for at least five years it won't be built
in ;)

cheers

Could you please give some details on this subject?

How can we integrate netCDF 4 with IDL v7? Are there any tutorials out
there?

Thank you.

yeah I know. And in all the years I am wondering why I can read the
grammar and do it not in the right order when I write myself.

In google stats I have the second most mails in this channel but there
was also a long gap in between. I hope I can continue now for some time
again.

If one can analyse the failures I did and could provide a
Reimar'sGrammar parser and formatter that would be great ;)

The 3rd idl book
http://www.fz-juelich.de/zb/datapool/page/439/00322_Bauer.pd f was
written two years ago about parts of our library.

If you can't resist reading a german idl book ;)

Bis bald!

I thought he might know something I don't about IDL 7.1. Nudge nudge
wink wink.

But I take your point about the DIY approach.

Ah, one of my favorite books! I have it almost always
with me when I travel. ;-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. My favorite part of that book is when Twain gets
to France and complains that the people there "can't
even understand their own damn language" when he tries
to talk to them. My feelings about French, exactly!
