Folks,

I had a good friend and expert IDL programmer visiting me last
week. (He prefers to remain nameless for obvious associative
reasons.) But, anyway, he was kind enough to introduce me
to some of the nuances of the IDL Workbench debugger. In
other words, he pointed out the utility of some of those
damn windows that I thought were just cluttering up my
interface.

I was still a bit skeptical after the tutorial, but I've
kept the lessons in mind. Today, I had the chance to
investigate a rather large IDL application that I didn't
write, and I have to say, I was EXTREMELY impressed with
how much help the debugger could give me in moving around
some pretty complicated code. I'm in the process of
re-evaluating my opinion of the Workbench. Maybe I'll
write an article about this soon. :-)

Cheers,

David
