Clearly flexlm doesn't like vista. I doubt that 6.0 is supported under
vista and you may be out of luck. Some ideas:

Do you have "fast user switching" (or whatever it is called in vista)
enabled? Can it be disabled as it can in XP?

Contact tech support and see if they can generate a license file that
allows for Terminal Server remote clients (this is an option with at
least some flexlm licensed products).

Run XP and IDL 6.0 in a virtual machine on your vista PC.

Install XP on your PC.

Update IDL to a version that is supported in vista.

Not very helpful, I know...

Neil,
have you tried simply pasting the license text in a text file, naming it
license.dat and copying this into the rsi license directory? You really do
not need the wizzard if you are one yourself. :-)

Cheers,
Haje

I've been using spaces in the path since well before 6.0 with no
problems.

The older version might have problems with spaces in the path, you
could try to install in "c:\rsi\..."

Thank you for your comments. Having looked a little closer it's not
the double // that's the problem, i installed in a directory with no
spaces in the path and that didnt work, and i just copied the file
into the expected directory space (ie not using the licence wizard)
and that didnt work either.

As Rick says it's maybe something to do with the compatibility between
Wista and FLEXlm.

thanks, neil

Hey man,
I am trying to run a program that needs flexlm too on Vista and I got
the same error message.
Note that: I downloaded the newest version of flexlm that is already
working with one of my programs.
The problem is not flexlm.

I think the problem is the license format. The license I experiencing
the problem with doesn't have server and daemon lines.
When I manage to add them, the flexlm work correctly but the
application says it can't find a license (He gives me a list of all
available licenses and say he can't find one. Really nice!!!).

I am not giving a solution I just want to say, it is NOT flexlm.
We have to search for other solution.
