Is it possible in IDL to define a 16-bit integer variable to lie in
the range 0 to 65535, instead of the default -32768 to +32767 range?

I am currently using LONG (32-bit) integer arrays, but I would like to
conserve memory by using 16-bit integer arrays.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
