Hello,

I have come across two high-quality plots while searching some
information for my final project. The images are atmospheric science
related outputs and the first one is from a conference presentation,
and the latter is from a dissertations. (I can provide the details, in
case of any request.)

I uploaded the plots to a free image hosting service

The first plot seems like to me created in IDL's iPlot, and I don't
have the author extended the lines to the z-axis. Do you think this is
an IDL product, or carries signs of another visualization package?

For the second one, I have never been able to create such a high-
contrast output from my plots. The colors in my plots are always
faint. How can I output or export such a shinny looking plots? is
there any trick for this?

You're right - I'm reading too fast and I missed "what they" and
instead thought "their" - my bad. I'm going back to bed - or maybe to
get that second cup of coffee...

He need a verb in that context, not a noun like 'product', and 'produce'
seems to me to be the correct spelling of an appropriate verb.

Do you use TVRD + WRITE_BMP/WRITE_TIFF/...? I never managed to get
good line-plots out of them. I usually use the postscript device (see
code below) and then use Adobe Illustrator (or something else) to
export this to other formats if needed. Also make sure you set line
thickess to ~3 or change it afterwards (using Illustrator and co.)

If you're using object graphics instead of direct graphic, check
IDLgrClipboard. If you're using iTools, exporting to EPS can be done
with some mouse clicks.

I'm really no expert on this, but it works for me.
