As you know, idlhelp of idl 7.0 is embedded in a web browser. I think
that kinda sucks. I really miss the old idlhelp which owns an
independent window. I am wondering if there is a way to get an
independent 7.0 idlhelp on Mac. Anybody know about that? Thanks a lot.

I already had 6.4 installed, so it was very convenient.
Yes, a standalone help viewer would be very nice, especially for those
of us who use command line IDL regularly.

Thanks, Mike. How did you get 6.4 help system, btw?
Moreover, I really think ITT should release some patch so that you can
apply to get a standalone idlhelp. I know they can do this since they
have already released one doing that for REDHAT enterprise v5.

Since there is not much difference between the routines available in
IDL 6.4 and IDL 7.0, I use the standalone help for IDL 6.4.
