Having had some recent experience with bureaucratic, authoritarian
states--I speak of the Driver's License Bureau--I can't help but
think a complete lack of a sense of humor plays a role. These people
seem to resent even the tiniest smile as an affront to their
role in making people's lives as miserable as possible in the
three or four hours you wait in their endless lines.

If I were going to crack down on teenagers listening to
subversive music and middle age men leering at pictures of young
women, these people are certainly the ones I would put in charge. :-)

Cheers,

David

P.S. As for why they are targeting me, I can only assume it
is because of the article explaining the history of the IEPA. :-(

They're also a highly bureaucratic authoritarian state; self-defeating
strategies of this kind are the norm, not the exception, in such states.
However, this sounds more like a mistake than a strategy, depending upon
what reason they had for blocking David's site.

I thought China had a goal of supporting scientific research.

They certainly do put quite a bit of money in universities and such.

So it seems like they a self-defeating strategy to censor useful
sites that support whole communities of astronomer, geographers,
climatologists etc. etc. How will they going to be able to graduate
now?

Maybe David you could take it over from Coyote? ;-)

Ciao,
Paolo

My youngest son, who is studying Chinese, and who has
aspirations to study in China next year, is now convinced
I have ruined his life by becoming an enemy of the State. :-(

Cheers,

David

P.S. Does anyone know of a re-education facility I can
enroll in with an eye toward restoring my reputation?

No reason, but it has been banned.
Using proxy is a effective way to access David's websit.
xB Browser (http://xerobank.com/download/xb-browser/) is a good
software that makes David's website accessing possible.

It has always been one of my goals in life to be considered
a dangerous man with dangerous ideas. Are you *sure* this
was a mistake? :-(

I am a user from China too.
It seems that David's website was banned by mistake.
You can use the proxy to connect it.

Now that I think about it, there may be something to this.
I did review The Story of Tibet: Conversations with the
Dalai Lama. I would think "Dalai Lama" has got to be on
their list of forbidden search terms. Wow. :-(

Cheers,

Oh, yeah, I hadn't thought about that. Dr. Tatiana's Sex
Advice to All Creation is certainly something we don't
want the Chinese to get their hands on. :-(
