Folks,
I've just finished a most unpleasant task this morning:
raising the price it costs to ship IDL books on my web
page. This is getting to be an every-January nightmare
for me. When I first started shipping books to Europe,
it cost me $16. Now it costs more than twice that!
Traditionally, I have eaten about a third of the actual
cost of shipping books, and I am still not recovering
the total cost. I am absolutely loath to raise the price
of the book, but I have also been hit with a substantial
increase in the cost of printing the book. So, long story
short, I have increased the shipping rates this morning
to something approaching the actual shipping costs.
I am totally committed to trying to keep book costs as
low as possible. I think it is important that people have
access to something more than the standard IDL documentation,
if only to provide a different context for understanding
the material.
I greatly appreciate your support of this book in the past,
and I pledge to do my best to provide fairly-priced books
well into the future.
Cheers,
David
