Hi,

I would like to write a IDL program which receive a mail and depending on the
mail body changes entries in a data base. After processing the mail sender
should get a reply. The data base already exists and the processing routines
have been written in IDL. Sending a mail can be done easily by writing the mail
body into a file and spawing the unix mail command.

But how do I read a mail from within IDL ?

if you're on a unix system, I can't see any problems with
letting IDL slurp up your /usr/mail/hahn and sort things out.
But why use a spanner to hammer in a nail? I would do it all
in perl.
