Hello,
I am currently using IDL6.2 on a Mac OSX 10.4.11 and for long I have
been using programs with the tv command without problems, but now when
I try to run them, IDL crashes and exits with a "bus error". I looked
on Google for some info about this and I came across a website
describing "Bus error in IDL 6.3 on Mac OS X". After reading it I
checked the issue of my display variable. I only have one monitor and
the display variable is :0.0 (and I am still using IDL 6.2)
This behavior started on friday (2/13/09) after I installed the
following software updates:
- Java for Mac OS X 10.4, Release 8 v1.0
- Security Update 2009-001 (PowerPC) v1.0
Could these updates have change something affecting my IDL6.2
installation? Has somebody else experience this? Does anybody knows if
there is a easy way to fix this?
Thanks,
Raul

Even though it's a patch to address a 10.5 issue, I've installed it on
several systems now and it's fixed the problem:
http://www.ittvis.com/services/techtip.asp?ttid=4284
I'd love to know if it will cause any further problems however.
This was after installed the Security Update, and without
"downgrading" or whatever.
