After installing IDL 6.0 on a new Dell Insprion Intel machine, when i
run the license manager i get the error mesage:
""""
% LICENSE MANAGER: Terminal Server remote client not allowed
Feature: idl
License path: C:\Program Files\RSI\\license\license.dat;C:\Program
-
Files\RSI\\license\*.lic
FLEXlm error: -103,577. System Error: 2 ""
For further information, refer to the FLEXlm End User Manual,
available at "www.globetrotter.com"..
License file: C:\Program Files\RSI\\license\license.dat:C:\Program
Files\RSI\\license\*.lic
""""
after which i can only run the 5 minute demo version of IDL.
An almost identical problem has appeared in the use of an older matlab
version being installed on a new machine with a solution given at the
website:
http://www.vistax64.com/vista-general/124638-cant-run-matlab -win-vista.html
This site explains that the problem arises as older programs, being 32-
bit versions, are being installed on the newer 64-bit machines. It
claims the solution is to force the 64-bit machine to run a particular
code in 32-bits. It claims the way to do this is under environmental
variables (accessed through Start Menu, System etc....) to add a
system variable, "name" and "value" appropriate for program, ie for
matlab in that case.
Anyone any ideas if this might work for IDL and what the system
variable, name and value might be for IDL 6.0.
many thanks for any help,
Neil
