We discovered a problem with surface and shade_surf under HPUX 10.10
with
IDL 4.0.1 which would result in IDL going into an infinite loop.

A suggested fix for others experiencing this problem is the following:
rm /usr/lib/libcurses.sl
ln -s /usr/lib/libcur_colr.1 /usr/lib/libcurses.sl

This fix was discovered by a user at Los Alamos. I have used it for over
a day
and had no problems.
