I'm using a program created by someone else for data analysis,
however, the error is pretty straight forward.
When creating a window for graphic that is 1024 x 16384 x 1 byte I get
the error - Unable to allocate memory: For backing store.
My monitor is set for 32 bit colors. When I run IDL in 256 color mode
compatability, I don't get this error. However, I do get it in 16
mode.
I tried all three RETAIN variations with the same effect (0,1 or 2).
Another user had the same issue, however they got a new computer and
the issue went away. The original coder uses a Mac, and they don't
have this issue. (Don't start the Mac vs Microsoft thing please!)
Any ideas on how to fix it? I do have a relatively new laptop with 4G
ram and 256MB video card.
Thanks!
