You might not recognize me because I don't post too much but I've been
reading (and posting) to this newsgroup for over a decade. And I can
assure you I've read all your mapping articles. Multiple times. But
no, I'm still not understanding everything written there, so I'm way
less than half-way.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'll see if I can get any help from the
data publisher, look at gdal, mapx, etc. And I'll be sure to post back
here with anything I find out that might be useful to others.
