The paper by
P. O. Hoyer. Non-negative Matrix Factorization with sparseness
constraints. Journal of Machine Learning Research 5:1457-1469, 2004.
has a pointer to MATLAB code for both his proposed method and for the
routine nmf method. This is relatively straightforward to convert to
IDL. My version is still untested so I'm not going post it here. Also
the algorithm is simple and fairly short and if you want to use NMF
for research it would be a good idea to learn to code it up for
yourself - there are many different ways of updating the matrices and
you might want to compare some.
