black and white xterminals and idl [message #6735]

We have an hp color x-terminal and hp 9000/700 work station and we are
planning on installing idl on it (the decision has not been made).

We also have many black-white (grey level) xterminals attached to the
HP server. Now suppose we create an idl output with all kinds of
color and many varieties of color. Can we display it on the
grey-level x-terminals? Will there be some default translation of
color to grey level or will we get frustrating error messages and no
display?
