great question. I searched for a good search engine, and could not
find anything. I did find several that did binary group searches only.
(almost like an old fashion bit-torrent). Do not search these if you
are at work, lol.

if i find something, i'll post it here.

cheers,

Yes, I believe this is the same as a smart keyword. But you can make one
by just right clicking on the search box and selecting "Add a keyword
for this search".

This works in Firefox, and might work in other browsers too.

Go to:
http://groups.google.com/groups/search?as_q=where&as_epq =&as_oq=&as_eq=&num=10&lr=&as_sitesearch =&as_qdr=&as_mind=1&as_minm=1&as_miny=2009&a mp;as_maxd=1&as_maxm=1&as_maxy=2009&as_ugroup=co mp.lang.idl-pvwave&as_usubject=&as_uauthors=&saf e=off
which is searching for where in the group.

Now bookmark this page. Then open the bookmarks organizer and find
your bookmark. In the address replace 'where' with '%s' with no
quotes. Add a keyword (not a tag, that's different. You may have to
expand a little arrow in the bookmark manager window to see the
keyword field.) I used the keyword 'gg'.

Now in the address bar of Firefox I can type 'gg histogram' and it
returns a search for histogram in the whole group, sorted by
relevance.

If it does not make sense, have a look at:
