dear all,
I'm trying to install idl on my new mac book pro. I have downloaded
the 6.4 version (btw, is anyhow possible to download an older version,
if I would like to ?!).
I had to add the X11 library on mac, then the installation works fine.
Then I go in
/Applications/itt/idl64/bin and launch ./idl
But this is what I get :
dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/X11R6/lib/libXp.6.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/itt/idl64/bin/bin.darwin.i386/libidl.
6.4.dylib
Reason: image not found
Trace/BPT trap
As anyone come across this problem? I'm a new mac user, where/how can
I get/install this library?
Thanks!
Cheers, S.

Rosetta is an optional install on snow leopard.
So if you prefer to install it via OS X you can simply install
Rosetta.
Some software/installers that require Rosetta will show a dialog
prompting you if you want to download Rosetta,
otherwise you can install it form the Snow Leopard DVD.

The IDL 7.1 installer requires Rosetta, which is not installed by
default when Snow Leopard is installed. However, the UNIX installer
for IDL 7.1 works just fine under Snow Leopard.

Liam.

I couldn't seem to install IDL 7.1 on 10.6 "Snow Leopard" on a test
machine, but the IDL versions I had already installed (6.4, 7.0, and
7.1) all seem to be working fine.
