Folks,
This is apropos of nothing, except that a morning of heavy
IDL programming has done nothing to chase the memory of this
film from my head. But if you haven't yet seen James Marsh's
documentary of Philippe Petit's tightrope walk in 1974 between
the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, entitled
Man on Wire, you should. I didn't think anything would push
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid out of its place as my
top movie of all time (in my day we memorized movie dialog
rather than played computer games as a way to waste our lives
away), but this one may have surpassed it.

If you have, say, a recent college graduate coming to grips
with his or her place in the world, this would make a superb
Christmas gift. :-)
Cheers,
David
