Mike,
Thanks for writing this up. I was hoping to attend that meeting. I am
pretty excited to hear about what they're doing with IDL 8.0. As a
scientific user, I feel like I was abandoned by ESRI when they decided
to walk away from both Linux and their old AMS scripting language. I
am pleased to see indications that people who write scientific
analysis code still appear to be IDL's bread and butter.
