Hello All,
Here's an IDL-processed image of the Moon to rock your socks off,
especially given that it was created using an 8" refractor by an
amateur
astronomer (but very good IDL programmer), Dr Michael Theusner
of Hannover, Germany.
http://www.theusner.eu/astro/images/moon/20100126/20100126_M ond_final_c.jpg
or :- http://tinyurl.com/yd3pqen
Michael writes :-
We changed the final image to 80% which allowed additional
sharpening.
It looks so much better than the 100% version. It is still big enough
anyway, 8000x8800 pixels (14 MB).
Luminance was recorded through the 8" refractor + 1.7x barlow lens =
5260 mm focal length (f/26.3) and a DMK 31. The enhanced color stems
from focal 40D images through a C11."
All processed using Michael's AviStack IDL program at www.avistack.de
Amazing Stuff! Someone should give this guy a job...
Cheers,
Andrew Cool (Who's more than a little jealous that this image isn't
mine!)
