According to IDL online help "the normal UNIX file redirection and pipe operations work with IDL".

Now, if %idl < idl.inp >& idl.out & causes IDL to execute in the background (reading its input from the file idl.inp and writing its output to the file idl.out), how could I translate that shell command according to Windows OS? Can you help me? Thanks for your time.
