double click in dialogs doesn't work [message #69985]

This has been bothering me for a long time (literally years). I call
dialog_pickfile to display a file selection dialog. You select a file,
then click OK or FILTER. Alternatively, you should be able to double-
click on a file to select it.

Double clicking does not work for me. Currently I'm running IDL 7.1 on
a Mac. The Mac OS is snow leopard (10.6.2) with the Apple X server
version XQuartz 2.3.4 (xorg-server 1.4.2-apple45). I have tried to
change the double click duration in the system preferences from
minimum to maximum without noticeable effect. I have had this symptom
in previous versions of IDL, the Mac OS, and X server. Just to make
things more confusing, the double clicking works every once-in-awhile,
like every 200 or 300 tries.

Any insight would be appreciated.
