Or, another way of saying this is that all answers
are equally likely.

The easiest way to avoid the progress bars is to run ENVI in full
batch mode. There are examples of how to do this in the Help
documentation.

Well David, please don't give it up altogether, for some
of us the jokes are part of what makes this newsgroup so fun
to read! And how can one make a good joke without being
a tiny bit nasty? :)

My apologies, too. I'll try harder to be less ironic and
more helpful. My wife reminds me often that an ironic
and overly cynical sense of humor is not everyone's cup
of tea. I'd to well to take that to heart, especially
in a forum like this.

Historically, David is the one who helps the most around here. Just
look at the number of messages he has sent, or the number of
references to his website by other people. And I expect a lot of
questions never get asked here because people find an answer on his
website first.

If you want to suppress all graphical output, see
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.idl-pvwave/browse_t hread/thread/ba794f5d7bc59c6a
There is no generic global way provided by IDL to selectively turn off
only progress bars. I do not know if ENVI provides such a mechanism
for its own routines.

ENVI!? And you didn't think that was relevant in an IDL
newsgroup?
Oh, never mind. I give up.
