I haven't found a method within the eos_* set of routines. Reopening
the file as a plain hdf-4 file (otherwise there are no 'special'
routines), and using the hdf* attribute methods will get the result
out. The code will depend on the storage method within the HDF-4 file
(SDS or otherwise).
