Working with the HI imager on STEREO data we do...

wcs=fitshead2wcs(fitsheader)
help,wcs,/struct ; coord_type is helioprojective cartesian
coord=wcs_get_coord(wcs)

gives the positions of all pixels in the image as a 2*n*m array

we can also do...

wcs=fitshead2wcs(fitsheader,system='a')
and get coordinates is celestial-equatorial
