If you have GIS you can save your file as a geotiff, and then in GIS
you can add grid-north arrow, coordinates, scales, etc.

Easiest way is to probably save the view you want as an ENVI image
file then open it back up and overlay using the normal Overlay
functions in ENVI.. not ideal but I don't know what else you can do
without recoding it (there is some stuff in the IDL demo that might be
useful).
