Does anyone know what it means to get the error '% Temporary variable
limit exceeded.'?

In this particular case it happened inside the IDL library routine JULDAY
(which computes Julian day numbers from dates). HELP tells me

Code area used: 100% (1144/1144), Symbol area used: 36% (168/456)
# local variables: 6, # parameters: 3

Any fix?
