1) The error messages IDL returns are pretty useless unless one knows
which routine generated the error. You might as well have IDL return
"Something's wrong."

2) I use On_Error, 2 and Message, ... in "mature" code to report
errors from parameter checking -- very handy for interactive use. The
new behavior forces me to give this up or to waste time (considerably)
tracking down a bug when it does appear.

3) Why don't you just attach the routine name to IDL's error message?
