No, I already have that. I was thinking more along the lines of M-x
idlwave-comment-this-routine that would then scan at the code
determine the
params, and keywords and query the user for information about each one
in the
mini-buffer. I assume it would ask for routine description, input/
output,
optional/required, type, default value, return value and then fill in
the
header automagically like in eclipse.

If I was only more comfortable in elisp (and had more free time).

I'm hoping the tutorial makes this a very easy transition for people.
And remember, IDLdoc can handle having each file specify its own comment
format style, so you can convert in a piece-meal fashion, i.e., new
stuff with the new easier to read format and old stuff stays the way it is.

What kind of integration would this be? Like an "insert IDLdoc template
for this routine" type action?

Thanks. Great work Mike.

I want to encourage all of you who might have been scared off of this
package if you tried it in the early days. The new plain text format
is readable in your code without a ton of crazy markup symbols. I
started using this a while ago and haven't looked back. It's a pretty
low energy barrier to better documentation.

Someday I hope to be able to integrate idldoc's file and function
level documentation with the idlwave package, but my free time has
been lacking.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi,

I tried the new version and also an older one, but they didn't work!
Everytime IDL shuts down without any comment, it just closes itself.

Well, we have really a lot of code and after some time I realized that
the memory grow up to 1.2GB and after that (maybe) Windows forces IDL
to stop and close. Is there a work around for a lot of code? e.g. call
it several times?
