Hi all,

on IDLDE 8.0 on my Vaio running WinXP with 4GB

IDL> arr = fltarr(320,256,400)
IDL> arr = fltarr(320,256,500)
IDL> arr = fltarr(320,256,600)
% Unable to allocate memory: to make array.
Not enough space
% Execution halted at: $MAIN$
IDL> help, /mem
heap memory used: 164641979, max: 295714092, gets: 1120,
frees: 273

on IDL8.0 CommandLine on my Vaio running WinXP with 4GB

IDL> arr = fltarr(320,256,1500)
IDL> arr = fltarr(320,256,2000)
IDL> help, /mem
heap memory used: 656083764, max: 1147603857, gets: 1109,
frees: 273

What a hungry IDE! That's really bad!!!
Is there a way of tuning the memory compsumption of the eclipse?
