Folks,

I've been told I've been listed as a complainer--no wait,
I think the term was "interested customer"--on 87 bugs
in the IDL database. (This is a little embarrassing to me.)

Of these, I'm told 68 are fixed and 19 are still open.
If this is true (and I have no reason to doubt it) this
is unprecedented in my experience with IDL. I'm really
looking forward to testing this release.

Unfortunately, when I got my IDL 8.0.1 version downloaded,
I couldn't think of many of the 87 bugs I've reported, and
I couldn't find (still can't!) the release notes. So I just
tried the first four things that came to me off the top of
my head.

The first two (PDF and PNG output) passed with flying colors.
The next one (putting a map overlay on an image with the new
image object) put IDL in a funk that it took the Task Manager
to fix, and the fourth one wasn't fixed.

So, now I'm thinking the rest of the afternoon is going to
be pretty clear sailing. :-)

Cheers,

David
