For an IDL solution I might look at the SIMPLE pipeline (
http://www3.asiaa.sinica.edu.tw/~whwang/idl/SIMPLE/index.htm ) and in
particular the procedure mosaic_wide.pro. For a non-IDL solution
(an alternative to Multidrizzle) I would check out SWARP (
http://www.astromatic.net/software/swarp ).

All of these solutions will have a steep learning curve, but I don't
know anything simpler. --Wayne
