Is there a more decent way of suppressing the axis
labelling and annotations but keeping the ticks:

!x.ticks =3
!x.tickname=[' ',' ',' ',' ']

Is there a utility to arrange the color-tables for
IDL from X-windows. Basically, I am trying to
have 256 different colors on the rainbow.
