Thanks for that, it does sped it up some waht but it is still pretty slow. Will see what else is possible.

I, of course, meant to write "and *not* for multiple calls inside a program."

I wouldn't be using mpfitexpr which requires an indirect function evaluation (EXECUTE statement) but mpfitpeak which has built-in support for a Gaussian fit.

mpfitexpr is mainly for quick fitting at the command line, and for multiple calls inside a program.
